About The Hosts

Nicolas Bowling

You can call me Nico. Back in 2007, I launched my first website, DjBootleg.com, where I shared exclusive hip-hop MP3s daily. That following helped me kick off a successful mixtape DJ career—releasing over 100 mixtapes, becoming an official Slip-n-Slide DJ, and even hitting #1 on ReverbNation’s Tampa DJ chart.

By 2014, I retired from music proud of what I’d accomplished but still wanted a creative outlet. In 2015, I started a blog, writing about whatever caught my interest, mainly sports. A year later, as the presidential election heated up, I became fascinated with politics. I rebranded the blog into an independent news site, RealNSE.com (News, Sports & Entertainment), where I dove deep into political commentary and journalism.

In 2021, my cousin Nathan came to me with the idea for Staircase Stories. At first, it was a podcast where he’d write three stories—two fiction, one true—and I’d try to guess the real one. It was fun, but we soon realized the platform had far greater potential. Once we began covering true crime, I felt an immediate connection. Unlike politics, this work gave me the chance to shed light on victims whose cases were overlooked or mishandled, and that purpose drives me every day.

I’d been on YouTube since 2010—starting with vlogs, gaming, and even aquatic videos—but never tackled long-form content until 2023. That year, I poured a year of research and effort into my first documentary about COVID-19 and the vaccine, “The Big Jab,” which opened my eyes to a new world of investigative storytelling.

Shortly after, I brought that passion to Staircase Stories. While searching for underreported cases, I found the heartbreaking story of Deidre Week. The more I learned, the more I felt compelled to tell it—and frustrated by how poorly the investigation was handled. When I released Collision of Silence, Deidre’s family, including her mother, Brenda, reached out with gratitude. That moment solidified my love for true crime documentaries. Telling these stories isn’t just content for me—it’s giving a voice to those who feel forgotten.

I’m Nathan, Co-creator of Staircase. Ever since I can remember, I have been creating art. Whether it be drawing, painting or writing you could always find me working on something. I discovered my passion for creative writing in college with my story “The Insidious Nature of Frank”, which would eventually get the full graphic podcast treatment in a Staircase: Stories episode. By the title, you can probably tell I’ve always loved the dark and Macabre. Horror films, true crime, and unsolved mysteries are always my go-to genres genre, so naturally thats where my writing thrives.

In 2021, I had an idea to create an interactive podcast where listeners could guess along with the host. But, I had no idea how to bring it to life. Luckily, my cousin Nico shares my passion for the dark and mysterious. With his background in music production, we teamed up to launch Staircase. Inspired by Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, we created a format where each episode contains three stories written by me, but only one is based on true events. Your job? To guess along with Nico until the truth is revealed.

As our podcast grew, we expanded under the staircase, umbrella, creating a sub-channel called Staircase: Conspiracies. Here, we dive deeper into mysteries -some famous, others obscure- attempting to unravel the secrets behind each case.

As we journey further into the unknown, we invite you to take your first steps with us on the staircase. The only question is… Coming Down?

About Staircase Stories

At Staircase Stories, we uncover the cases that often slip through the cracks, stories of real people, unsolved mysteries, and tragedies that deserve to be remembered. Our true crime channel is dedicated to producing in-depth true crime videos and full-length documentaries that shed light on lesser-known cases.

We focus on thorough research, respectful storytelling, and presenting every detail with clarity. Each project is crafted to not only inform but also to give a voice to victims and their families, keeping their stories alive and bringing attention to the pursuit of justice.

Most recently, we released "Collision of Silence," a feature-length documentary that dives deep into the hit and run death of 11 year old Deidre Week. We told Deidre's story like never before and exposed the possible cover up and lackluster investigation ran by the Wood County Sheriffs Department.

Whether it’s a short-form case breakdown or a deep-dive documentary months in the making, our goal is always the same: to tell the stories that matter and to do so with honesty, compassion, and integrity.
